If your project has just started, this can be the better solution for you.

Good old mm_forum got last update in FEB 2011

  http://typo3.org/extensions/repository/view/mm_forum/

But perhaps the SVN Version works for you:

  http://forge.typo3.org/projects/extension-mm_forum/repository
