[TYPO3-english] Blank white page - no errors

Hello everyone, 

I have a problem that has turned out to be very frustrating and would very
much appreciate your help: 

I'm running a templavoila based website on typo3 4.5.15 and almost whatever
I do in backend, I get a blank white page (I'm talking about the third
column - to the right of the page hierarchy). 
I therefore can't add new records, editing of existing records is limited,
etc. 

I have logging enabled as described in the link below but I see no errors

I can confirm that php/apache error logging is enabled (also tested).

How I got here:
I experienced the same issue with an earlier typo3 version and because I
couldn't find the cause, I've decided to try and upgrade to 4.5.15 which
fixed it but only for a while it seems. Symptoms are identical. 

The only thing I'm seeing is plenty of javascript errors while browsing the
backend:
