[TYPO3-english] Applying different templates to Version 6 starter pack

Dear friends,

I have installed typo3 version 6 starter pack and it all works fine.
However, I want to use WEC or BusyNoggin or Yaml templates/templating
system.
When I try importing a WEC skin (extension) from the repository, its
dependencies seem to cause problems.
Is there a simple-ish route to achieving what I want or recommendations as
to how I should go about it?
As typo3 v6 seems to work so nicely, I want to be able to have templates
other than the default one provided.
I have used the WEC implementation of typo3 in the past but thought that I
would try starting from the typo3 starter pack for a change.

[Unrelated to my substantive question: By the way, although the typo3 IRC
channel has plenty of nicks listed as being present, nobody ever seems to
talk. I had tried asking questions there as it is advertised on typo3.org
as part of our community and I thought it might have been more immediate.]

Although I sometimes find typo3 frustrating, it is a CMS that is worth my
feeble efforts at persisting.

Thanks,

Calum MacLeod
