Hi, Georg. I know, that it is not the answer, but you may try to convert your environment to UTF-8. There is even a script, written by Jigal van Hemert, for db conversion: http://wiki.typo3.org/UTF-8_support#Convert_an_already_existing_database_to_UTF-8
