[TYPO3-english] Making Extension Records Searchable

Hi,

I have created an extension which allows users to add various records in 
the BE, however the text fields of these records are not searchable in 
either the list module or the global search in the top right corner of 
the BE.

Can someone explain how I can include these records in these searches or 
point me to the documentation.
