[TYPO3-english] install tool 452 fails silently after login

Hi,

typo3 v4.5.2, PHP Version 5.2.17, mysql 5.0.90

after upgrade to v4.5.2 I try to run the install tool. But after entering the 
*correct* password I am shown the logon screen again. No errors, nothing in the 
apache/php logs.

What could this be?
