[TYPO3-english] Forum modules

Hi Colin,

Welcome to the world of TYPO3, the best CMS on the PLANET!

Because forums are a pretty massive add-on, sometimes it might be worth
investigating the integration of a 3rd party forum instead of an extension. The
reasons include the fact that a 3rd party app is meant to be only a forum, so
they specialize in just the forum and only the forum which makes it secure and
feature rich. To that end, you might consider vbulletin - my team has been able
to find security holes in most other forums except this one. So the idea is, you
have your site (ex. www.stormat.ca ) then a forum section installed separately
(ex www.stormat.ca/forum ). Users will not notice a difference but the forum
files will be separate from TYPO3, ie. TYPO3 is installed to public_html/typo
while the forum is in public_html/forum

If you are set on a TYPO3 extension, then I can't recommend "WEC Discussion"
enough - it serves as forum, talkback, and blog ... all in one! It's pretty easy
to configure too.

Hope that give you a starting point,
-Scott.

Subject: [TYPO3-english] Forum modules

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie, and am starting to get my head around typo3, and am in the
need for a FORUM Module for my company that I can install, tweek and use
without

too much work on my part. It needs to be able to take posts and send
responses.

Any suggestions ?

Thank you,

Colin
