[TYPO3-english] Beginner's templavoila error

Hmmm. I had 1.5.0 on my original install, so I installed that over the 1.5.3 on the new install. 1.5.0 immediately prompted me to install "static tables", which I did, and then completed the 1.5.0 install. Now, the wizard works with 1.5.0.

Why would 1.5.3 not tell me it needed "static tables"? Is that a bug? 

So for now, 1.5.0 works...

I'm on a new install, and after getting TV installed, I click the TV wizard to get started, and it says:

"TemplaVoila wizard error The template directory is empty or could not be found. Please, create it before starting this wizard. "

...yet the directory is there, and I can see it in fileadmin. All my files are in fileadmin/templates/us_site.

I moved a few files to the "us_site" folder, thinking it wasn't able to see into the subfolder, but that didn't work either.

On my other install, this just "worked" the first time I started the TV wizard. What setting could be wrong?
