[TYPO3-english] cHash in 4.4

Did the upgrade to 4.4 change how cHash's are generated?

We've run into a problem with clients using urls that have the "old" (10 character) cHash in URL's.  As CoolURI now appends the 32 character has to it's SEO friendly urls.  is there a way to tell 4.4 (assuming it's 4.4) to revert to the 10 character cHash?
