[TYPO3-english] versionNumberInFilename problems

Hello list,

I'm creating my own master-site-extension to startup new typo3 websites. 
After a few tests, i figured out, that on some websites the backend 
brakes if I set the following var to 1.

$TYPO3_CONF_VARS['BE']['versionNumberInFilename'] = '1';

Is there any reason why?

Maybe anyone can give me some tipps!
