The solution was quite simple finally (if it lasts, now everything seems 
perfect): just had to delete the problem files in 
var/lib/mysql/databasename/ for example cache_hash.frn and cache_hash.ibd
Then the tables got created ok.

Thank you for your input, it pushed me in right direction :)
