Hello !

My 60 GB Laptop SSD drive seemd to be full as I copied over some digital
photos, which caused my Ubuntu Linux to fire up a tool named "Disk Usage
Analyzer".

This tool (can be found under Accessories in Ubuntu) allows you to show
a pie chart or a block diagram of the used diskspace in a very nice way.
You can also dive into the directory structure, and show a diagram for
every folder.

I created a screenshot of the output generated for the typo3_src folder
of an TYPO3 installation, showing how much disk space is used for which
folders:

(I remember no image-pastebin other that imageshack - probably there are
also some out there hosted in Europe, but I didn't want to search)

For people having Linux installed, or using it on a daily basis like I
do for almost 10 years now I would suggestu you just try out this tool.
For people using other distributions than Ubuntu: The tools is called
"baobab" and at least contained in Ubuntu/Debians "gnome-tools" package:

root at nitrogen:/home/kraftb# apt-cache search baobab
gnome-utils - GNOME desktop utilities

greets and have a nice Sunday,
Bernhard
