[TYPO3-english] realurl - non-ASCII char in path not allowed?

Hi,
i was asked, why an & is removed from the pagepath (news title) and not
converted to %26. (currently running realurl 1.8.1, setup is copied from
http://typo3.org/extensions/repository/view/tt_news/current/info/res%252FrealUrl_example_setup.txt/
, // news articles and searchwords)
According to the documentation, only ascii characters are allowed, or
unicode letters in 1.9 (with option enableAllUnicodeLetters).
After adding & to the range of allowed chars in lookUp_cleanAlias, all &
got replaced with %26 in the url, so the url resulted in the desired
article/testnews-with-%26-in-title/
The entry in tx_realurl_uniqalias for value_alias is
"testnews-with-&-in-title", and since all path parts are decoded in
decodeSpURL_doDecode with rawurldecode, the url turns to the matching
entry and the resulting link seems to work just fine.
Am i missing any other problem here? I did not find an explanation, why
other chars are not allowed, only that they are stripped no matter what,
even if everything goes through rawurlencode/rawurldecode.
Regards,
Andreas
