[TYPO3-english] makeloginnews in BE login

Hi,

I was wondering how to use the makeloginnews()

I came across Dan's blog about the modification of the BE login template.

I took the template located in the default folder and found the NEWS 
markers inside.

Is there any documentation to how to display these news on the login page?
