[TYPO3-english] Why new TYPO3 versions have been released

Hi all,

several people complained about new stable TYPO3 releases coming out so
again - here some reasons, why 4.2.17, 4.3.10 and 4.4.6 have been
released and why you might want to upgrade - you can decide yourself, if
you want to (nobody forces you).

Reason were some regressions (as already pointed out in the
announcement..), introduced with the predecessor versions. All are *not*
related to the contained security fixes, but to other changes.

The to me known (and fixed) regressions are:

* RTE transformation removes all span tags on save
   http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=16760

* Workspaces: Generating preview link not working
   http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=16786

* JS Error in Backend: 'Ext' is undefined, Line: 81, js/common.js
   http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=16831

Another possible regression, which got feedback too late and thus is
*NOT* fixed, yet:
* layered menus generate "too much recursion javascript-error"
   http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=167165
If you can reproduce this one, please provide feedback!

If you're not affected by any of the mentioned issues, might skip the
update.

Thanks from my side to the colleagues working hard on fixing the issues
over the Christmas days.

Kind regards
Steffen
