[TYPO3-english] Renaming the typo3/ directory ... problems abound

Hi everyone,

i was trying to use a different backend directory name so that my BE 
users can acces the BE via mywebsite/admin instead of mywebsite/typo3

i found instructions to do this in the core docs:

under the heading: "Changing the default “typo3/” directory"

Here is what it says there:

Search for the string 'define("TYPO3_mainDir"'. At least four scripts 
will be found: typo3/sysext/cms/tslib/index_ts.php (the index.php file), 
typo3/sysext/cms/tslib/showpic.php, t3lib/thumbs.php and typo3/init.php. 
With each instance change the constant definition from “typo3/” to 
“my_typo3_admin_dir/”.

I did this, changed typo3/ to admin/ wherever i could find it but don't 
have much luck with the result, i can log into the BE but there are a 
number of problems:

- the icons in the top bar are missing: workspace/shortcuts/clearCache
- all icons in the doc header are missing (close, save, new, ...)
- icons for the page tree are missing
- the install tool comes up as a blank page	

so it doesn't seem as easy as it's explained in the docs, does anyone 
have experience with this in a recent version of t3

i'm using 4.4.5
