[TYPO3-english] Direct Mail with sr_feuser_register or direct_mail_subscription or both?

Dear all,

I hope to draw on the experience out there to clarify whether we need to 
use both modules alongside Direct Mail.

We need to offer self-managed newsletter subscriptions but also a login 
function for those subscribed to view restricted access to some 
newsletter pages.

If users subscribe using direct_mail_subscription can this be fed into 
the fe user login facility and vice versa? Would we need to import the 
user list to the direct mail function each time if the source of 
registration is sr_feuser_register?
