[TYPO3-english] awstats - how to track downloads, filelinks etc.

Hello,

can someone please enlighten me if there is any way to track downloads  
(for example from filelinks e.g. uploads/media directory or from  
fileadmin directory) with the awstats extension?

I found this information via searching the web but the downloads do  
not show up in the statistic reports nor do they in the log file...
