[TYPO3-english] ldap_authentification and ldap protocol problem

Dear list,

I have installed and configured  the ldap_authentification extension in
typo3 4.2.6
It is communicating the ldap server but it is using the old protocol.
That's  why the server log reports

historical protocol version requested, use LDAPv3 instead

```````````````````````````````````

How can I change the protocol in code level ?
Please suggest.
