[TYPO3-english] BE: dates shown (start/stop) - how to modify?

Hi all,

I am struggling with date fields in the TYPO3 backend.
How can I modify the date, which is shown in format like: 2-12-09 ?

I want the dates in backend to be shown to according be language.
In german the date in datefield should be shown like 01.12.2009.

Better would it be, if I could configure the date myself.

Anybody some suggestions?
