[TYPO3-english] [Direct Mail] How to send out multilingual newsletters, can it be done ?

Typo3 version: 4.2.6
DirectMail version: 2.6.3
TT-address version: 2.2.1

Hello,

after fiddling with a self-coded 'subscribe' module (specific requirements
were needed and all subscribe modules seemed to fill the TT-address MySQL
table about the same way so I built it from scratch) I have now succesfully
built a page to subscribe to a Direct Mail newsletter. The page (on a
Belgian website) for subscribing is localised in three languages: Dutch,
French and English. The direct mail categories are all localised as such as
well.
DirectMail has been configured to send out a newsletter, it even has a
(basic) template. The content sections are selected correctly per
subscriber.
There's just one problem.... I couldn't find any information on how to send
users who subscribed as having a certain language (for instance, those who
subscribed from the French translation of the subscription page, one can
assume they would want the French version of the newsletter) their
subscribed content in their own language. I realise that fe_users might have
been a better choice but we're far into the project and implementing that
might mean starting almost from scratch again.

I've added the language code to each subscriber in tt-address field
'country' since I could not find any other place to 'save' it. Now I want
DirectMail to recognise those values so that French people will only get
French content.

Can anyone help me ? I'm willing to modify DirectMail module itself but it's
kind of massive and I'd at least need to know where to look. Where is the
page rendering made, for instance ?

Thanks for any help you can offer,

René van Densen
