[TYPO3] mobile phone templates

Hi folks,

What is your experience and opinion of what is the best approach to use 
alternative templates for small screens like mobile phones?

What I can think of are conditions for
- device
- WAP-agents
(unfortunately there is no such a condition as screen size ;)

My goal would be to give small screens an opportunity to either not show 
pictures or serve completely different template.

Is it possibly using typoscript not show pictures at all (validatable 
and accessible way) even though they are there?
This could be maybe reached with a condition to use another css with 
hidden textpic divs....?
