Sure, it's possible. Just read the manual ;)
Then you'll find "list.defaultChar = full" there.

Also, if you need anchor navigation on this list, I may send you
modified class.tx_clalphabeticalindex_pi1.php, which allow this
possibility by adding "list.useAnchors = 1" into TS Setup :)
