Top Level Objects -> TCA defaults says there are 4 different places to get
the values from. Last one of this list wins, so I guess there must be a
"defVal" or a previous Record overriding your default.

AFAIK TCAdefaults are used to define values that will be written to the DB
if the editor didn't write/select anything into/from the BE form. Which is
not the case for colPos since this is preselected when opeing the form for a
new element.
