[TYPO3] captcha with guestbook

can you help me now. what might i be doing wrong. i'll list it out

installed captcha version 1.1.0
installed ve_guestbook 2.7.1
created a page
created a sys folder to store information
added teh guestbook pluggin to the page and configured it to display in
list mode and set the starting point to the sysfolder

inserted another guestbook pluggin in the page and then configured it to
form and then went to form and selected captcha from dropdown box

selected the obligatory fields to first, last name and email
checked teh email format cheking and backend verification
selected teh redirect page
saved everything

now this should work right??
well it doesn't. What did i miss? do i have to configure anything
anywhere? maybe a setting , ts setup.. add a code here and there . any
pointers will be highly appriciated
