[TYPO3] How to add a non-breaking space in rtehtmlarea on a mac?

Hi there,
either I am too stupid, or this is a bug in rtehtmlarea on a mac.

On a PC I simply use <ctrl>+<space> and htmlarea will add a nbsp; (even 
on a virtual pc on my mc). But neither in Safari nor in Firefox 
(natively running on Mac OSX) I'm able to enter a non-breaking space 
directly.

Am I missing something?
