[TYPO3] Unwanted hot linking with WEC Discussion forum plugin used as Blog

Hello All,
 I am wondering if any of you know how to disable the automated 
hotlinking of things starting with http in the WEC Discussion Forum 
plugin which I am using as a blog. I have written some posts which 
contain fictitious example urls and local urls, and the WEC discussion 
forum plugin is converting them to real urls and removing http:// from 
the front of the visible text making a mess of my examples. For example

http://localhost/some/other/path.asf    

is hotlinked and looks like

localhost/some/other/path.asf

in the final post.

Any help would be much appreciate!!
