[TYPO3] Is DAM worth its use or is it dead?

I have problem too explaining why editors may link to page and whenever 
pages are renamed or moved links are updated and why it does not work 
for external files. I think it should be better referenced, not as an 
external link that is interpreted as a "file" link when pointing to an 
existing local file, but really with a reference to the file.

If it definitively is not possible with standard file handling in TYPO3 
then go ahead and promote DAM. I started to contribute to DAM and I'm 
willing to go on as I think lots of people (not all I agree) need such 
document/image, "asset" management.
