[TYPO3] Is DAM worth its use or is it dead?

This is worth mentioning indeed. If you have a limited number of  
files, there's little reason to use the DAM. It adds a layer of  
complexity not just for editors but also for administrators. We do  
not install DAM by default for all our clients. The projects I  
mentioned are projects with several thousand files of various formats  
(lots of PDFs) and the DAM is really useful in this case to help the  
editors actually find files. Categories are also extremely useful for  
organising the files, be it for searching in the BE or displaying in  
the FE.
