Now, about your situation.  It seems to me that you need some new tools. 
  I am beginning to feel like an AD for this (I just posted the link on 
the list not 10 minutes ago!)  but you would probably find an entirely 
new world opening up to you by making use of Firebug for Firefox whilst 
you are creating your layouts and css, which is likely the problem you 
are having.
