[TYPO3] Direct Mail: tt_news and plaintext

I'm using TV, and I have the opposite problem.
Following Kaspars advice in the manual the plaintext news items render
just fine, but in the HTML email there is nothing! No error messages,
just empty space. Normal content elements render fine in both HTML and
plaintext.

Anyone got any pointers on where I'm going wrong? (Or indeed which
mailling list this should be on?)
