If you can install software on server (not typo3 extensions but standalone software), you can try mnogosearch extension. It is better in seaching than indexed search, puts less load on server and uses external powerful search enagine (also named mnogosearch). It even supports word forms (i.e. will find "did" and "done" if you searched for "do") if you configure it properly.
