[TYPO3] calendar base - frontend editing problem

I have not been able to do fe_editing - I have enabled frontend
editing in the template, and enabled frontend editing for a specific
frontend user, and logged in (which shows on the calendar),but still
editing will not work in the frontend .

I just noticed that the extension says it depends on; depends on
php 4.0.0-0.0.0  - does that mean it will not accept php5? Could
that be my problem?

I am using php5, calendar base 0.15.4, typo3 4.1.2

Any pointers would be helpful.
