You are right. There is also a conversion when the filebrowser is used. 
And it may be better not to mess with that.

But if you don't use the filebrowser, which for local urls is useless 
anyway, my solution will work.

To make it clearer, dont use the link button in the toolbar but 
rightclick on your link text and choose "insert/edit link".
