Probably. So Stephen, launch a MS-DOS window in your XP installation and 
do this command to discover your short path names:

dir /x

Should display:

dokume~   (for Dokumente und Einstellungen)

Then do a CD to change directory :

cd dokume~

dir /x

... Repeat & rinse as necessary.

At the end you will get a full path with the short ( < 8 chars) 
equivalent of your path.
