[TYPO3] New htmlArea editor !??

Table editing is not easy and I think rtehtmlarea handles it very well.  
The best way to make tables do what you want is to give them ids and  
classes and handle it all via CSS anyway.

You could try tinyRTE (tinyrte), some people like it although it's not to  
my taste.
