[TYPO3] Smoothgallery text w/ image not working

I installed rgsmoothgallery and the plugin works great.  But I can't  
make it work with the text w/ image or the image content block.

I've added the static template to my page template, I'm not doing  
anything smoothgallery related in the TS and I've got the Activate  
Smoothgallery checked.

Anything there anything special that I need to do beyond what's in the  
docs to make it work?
