[TYPO3] pass a variable to an email form

i need to make an email form that I can pass a variable to...
could be thru the url ?var=sometext

is there an easy way to do this?

I was thinking of customizing tip-a-friend somehow to do this, but i am 
wondering if there may be an easier way (and here I am)....

any help much appreciated.
