[TYPO3] Can access rights be inherited for front end groups?

Hi,

Typo3 V4.0.4
TemplaVoila 1.1.0

I have two front end groups A and B.  B is subgroup of A.  I'm a member of
group B.  I assigned access rights to a page to group A.  But I'm not able
to see the page's content even though I'm implicitly also a member of
group A.  Anybody see the same problem?  What might cause the problem?
