[TYPO3] Problem linking to image files in subfolders

Hi,
I am having some trouble linking to images in subfolders. Lets say I 
have a thumbnail which I want to link to a larger image. The images are 
in a folder called: fileadmin/user_upload/_temp_/subfolder

I can insert the images from the tableeditor, but I can't acces the 
image files when I want to make a link. I can only acces the images in 
the root of: fileadmin/user_upload/

Why is that, some ideas anyone?
