[TYPO3] Edit panels in records List

Hey List

Sorry to keep on this question, but I'm still having probems with
showing FE edit panels in a list of records and can't find a
definative answer.
I have created an extension that just displays a column list of
records. I need to be able to have FE editors edit individual records.
I can't seem to get the edit panels to show for this particular
extension. I'm sure its a reasonably simple solution.

Any clues, hints, pointers to documentation appreciated.
