[TYPO3] JS onLoad without conflicts

Hi,
is it possible to get a script to be executed onLoad without risking to
override some other plugin's (or whatever other component) functions? I
could just put an window.onload=... in the header but then I might
override another onload function or my function might be overridden by
something else. Is it possible to avoid that?
