[TYPO3] Can not get into the BE

Hi list,

A bit of an urgent one this :(

I'm trying to get into a Typo3 installation so I can add events into the
calendar. When I went to the website it was down, so I got my server guy
to sort the problem out.

The website FE is showing fine but I can not get into the backend at
all. I have looked at the database record for the login and I have been
typing in the correct username and password into the BE login form but
it is not excepting it.

How can I get back into the BE without risking the website corrupting?
I can get into the install tool and I know there is an option to create
an admin user in it, but it states that you should only create a new
admin for installs that do not have an admin user set.
