[TYPO3] catyegory hasw come but "category selection" is not working

Dear James Knuckey and all,

Category is visible by catmenu.  But " category selection" part is still
empty. Here is what I'm doing.
I have created a page as "single news"  with tt_news plugins under the
sysfolder NEWS.
Now in the "General setting" option of the page "single news" ; 
"category selection " and "news_category" section is still empty.
How can I get the category here ? kindly suggest.
