[TYPO3] re: overwriting language defines

Hi

I'm trying to overwrite some language defines in the macmade loginbox 
extension using the following convention in template setup:

plugin.tx_loginboxmacmade_pi1._LOCAL_LANG.default.pi_loginbox_username = 
Username

However the changes are not showing up. I've used the same type of code 
before for the fe user registration extension and it worked fine. Can anyone 
tell me where i'm going wrong.
