I remember that discussion. As Martin said, those arguments were not 
convincing.

To use frontend plugin, for example, you have to call typo3 functions 
and pass data to them. This falls exactly into Q&A entry that I quoted.

If plugin adds tables, it uses $TCA and again exchanges data with TYPO3, 
so again falls to GPL.
