[TYPO3] exluding the first level from the menu

i know, i am looking at the Tref, and inserted the entrylevel in my 
menu, but doesn't give me any results.
i also played with begin , but this just hides the first item in the 
menu..

i managed to do lots of things already, and if i can't find the answers 
or solutions, i ask you guys, sorry for the questions..

I also think that the documentation doesn't provide you with enough 
examples so you can see clearly what is goin on..
