[TYPO3] jm_gallery backend photographs

Why is "URL to image" unavailable when creating a new image record in the
backend? I am unable to create a jm_image in my system folder because it
will not allow me to type in a path...

I can only type in the image's caption - which renders a broken image link
in the frontend.


So, is there a way to upload jm_gallery photographs solely in the backend?
This would save me a lot of headaches.
