I eventually gave up on the "yrs" strings. I simply removed that part from the
template now. Also, I was slightly wrong about the "cal" extension. Today I
realised that there are some words translated, but some others are not.
Strangely enough, those words all reside in the same file
(typo3conf/ext/cal/controller/locallang.xml). So for example the key
"[l_legend]" is translated correctly, whereas the key
"[l_daysofweek_lang_tuesday]" (and the other day names) is not.
