I tested you changes - caused alert box using Typo3 3.8.1.
Annoying and something was wrong.

problematic in overall because init()
is in typo3 3.8.1 inside browse_links.php and
in 4.0 class.browse_links.php (that doesn't exist at all).

Possible to make conditional XCLASSes for both versions endeed.
